Letz Sing

in Comox, Courtenay and Black Creek, BC, Canada
directed by Tina Filippino CCLT 2004–05
letzsingtina@gmail.com | 250-337-8328
http://www.letzsing.com

The Letz Sing Choir, which meets in three locations in the Comox Valley, is committed to gathering weekly to share the experience of singing in harmony. The only prerequisite to joining this choir is a desire to sing with others. Whether you are a seasoned singer looking for a place to raise your voice, or you have never sung in a group before and had always wanted to, your voice is welcome in this choir.

At the Letz Sing weekly singing sessions you will acquire a repertoire of songs from a diversity of origins and inspiration. Words, melodies and harmonies are learned methodically in a step by step fashion in the oral tradition of call and response. Each session will include warm-ups for the voice and the body, the introduction of new material, as well as time to sing favorites from a growing repertoire of familiar songs.

There is no commitment to perform with this choir, rather every term there is a “Big Sing”, a casual but exciting Sunday afternoon where choir members from all choir locations gather. On this day the energy of the complete Letz Sing Choir Community raises the rafters with the melodies and harmonies they had been learning in their separate locations throughout the term.

Those interested in coming together to experience the joy of voices joined in harmony are encouraged to come try it out! All voices are welcome in this choir! Late starts prorated, sliding scale available.

singforpurejoy@gmail.com | 250-202-1003

There is a proverb from Zimbabwe that states “If you can walk, you can dance… If your can talk, you can sing.”

Raise your voice in glorious song with heart-felt melodies, soulful gospel songs and rousing spirituals, meditative chants, luscious layered songs and robust rounds. Songs from the sublime to the ridiculous!

These are non-auditioned choirs for those who love to sing and those who don’t think they can. This is a safe, non-judgemental circle where ALL voices are welcome. There is no need to read music. All songs are taught in the traditional method of call and response.

If you desire an added boost of endorphins coursing through your body… SING FOR PURE JOY! and claim the birthright of a singing species.

Sound Connection Community Choir

in Errington, BC, Canada
directed by Megan Keene and Sharon Tomczyk CCLT 2015 (Megan)
keenemegan5@gmail.com | 250-228-2467
https://soundconnection.weebly.com

Sound Connection is an uplifting, non-auditioned choir for anyone (18+) who loves singing, or who has wanted to sing but has been too afraid.
Every voice is welcome!!

At Sound Connection, we believe singing creates social connectedness and a sense of belonging, and we recognize the importance of creating a safe place to find, explore and share your voice in community.

Group singing has been shown to build social connections and generate a collective identity. Simply put, individuals who sing/breathe/move together, feel together. In fact, some theorists claim that one evolutionary purpose of group singing is social bonding.

Sound Connection is a proud Ubuntu choirs network member and believes that singing is our birthright even the shyest of voices can re-discover the joy of singing.

The choir may have opportunities to participate in community song sharing events, should they choose, but we are not a “performance based choir”

Reading sheet music is not a requirement for being in this choir.

No experience necessary – but an eagerness to learn a must. Attendance at all sessions is encouraged!
