At the end of each choir season, Tina Filippino brings her three choirs together for a Big Sing. These are wonderful events where singers from the neighboring communities of Quadra Island, Black Creek and Comox come together to sing their common repertoire, building community through song. A full 99% of the Roberts Creek Community Choir’s fees and donations go to our chosen cause. The first project we supported was a local initiative that helps single mothers. Currently we are sponsoring impoverished girls in their secondary education in rural Kenya. (read more…)
Since 2002, the choir has held an annual benefit concert for the North End Sponsorship Team (NEST) to support refugees settling in Winnipeg. We have contributed to Simunye, an organization supporting those in South Africa affected by HIV. The choir has sung for Sisters in Spirit to help raise awareness about missing or murdered Aboriginal women, and for the cleaning and greening of North Point Douglas. (read more…)
